MEET INDRA
Ridgefield is where the American Dream became a reality
Indra was born in Connecticut to an Indian father and Chinese mother. When his parents came to America, they had very little, but were determined to create a better life for their children. They ultimately put down roots in Ridgefield, Connecticut.
In Ridgefield, Indra grew up in safe neighborhoods, formed lifelong friendships, and attended Ridgefield Public Schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating from Ridgefield High School in 2004. He served as a boy scout, participated in the Jesse Lee Appalachia project, and played basketball for the Boys and Girls Club.
With the support and guidance of his Ridgefield Public School teachers, Indra went on to attend Georgetown University, where he won a Truman Scholarship, was elected Phi Beta Kappa, and received the McTighe Prize — the university’s highest honor. He later earned a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, where he was a recipient of the Harvard Public Service Scholarship.
Ridgefield lessons for impact
Indra’s upbringing in Ridgefield instilled in him enduring lessons and a deep sense of privilege, one that comes with the responsibility to help others.
Leadership Experience. Indra previously worked for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign from 2007-2008, co-founded a non-profit that was recognized by President Clinton, and led construction teams in post-Katrina Louisiana. While working as Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Connecticut’s largest city, Indra helped secure state and federal funding to expand access to pre-K, reduce municipal debt, and support economic development initiatives.
Financial and Management Experience. Indra’s financial experience includes advising CEOs and serving as a management consultant to corporations, foundations, endowments, and non-profits across the United States, including Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital — the largest Girl Scouts chapter with almost 100,000 members. Indra also has investment experience across real estate, public markets, fixed income, private investing, and credit markets.
Most recently, Indra has owned and operated two small businesses employing 75 people in Connecticut.
A Ridgefield father & public school parent
Indra is married to his college sweetheart, Christine, who received the national Red Cross’ “Change a Life” Award for her work helping respite centers in the aftermath of 9/11. Christine is a former Kindergarten and 1st grade teacher, and holds degrees from Georgetown University and Harvard’s Graduate School of Education.
When Christine and Indra became parents, Ridgefield was the only place they could envision raising their family. Today, their children play on the same fields Indra once did, attend the same Ridgefield Public Schools, and even have the same pediatrician.
Leadership through the fire
After moving back to Ridgefield, Indra joined the Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department as an Interior Firefighter. Serving alongside both career and volunteer firefighters, he has responded to structure fires, personally housed displaced fire victims, and helped extricate individuals from vehicles during car accidents.
Indra has responded to more than 100 calls for three consecutive years and has regularly been among the department’s top responders.
